In the spring of 1995 I came up with the idea for creating "Speculation of the Juvenescence Epoch." The idea for my project came about as I overheard members of the older generation speak badly about my generation saying things such as a lot of us smoke weed and that a majority of the males in our generation are gang members. The statements that they made were not true in my opinion. Since it was an opinion, I decided to do something to figure out how true what they were saying actually was. I conducted a survey to see what the teenage population "really" is up to and how they feel on certain issues. The five categories are People, Gangs and Violence, Sex, Drugs and Alcohol, and School. The people in this project range from the ages of 13 to 19, they attend many different schools, and live in different neighborhoods in Pittsburgh. So, the information written inside this publication is based solely on information gathered from teenagers. After transferring the answers gathered from my survey into charts and analyzing those charts, I can now say that the people of the older generation were not correct, and that is no longer just my opinion. I produced this piece with the help of many people. My partner Donnell, scanned the pictures and did all the editing. Many other people have contributed a little bit of this and a little bit of that, so not all of the credit can be placed upon my doorstep, but it was my desire to create "Speculation of the Juvenscence Epoch" opened the door.
